  1. July 16, 2005 - Today at 8 AM we assempled with volunteers, LMT Maintenance people, State Rep. Doug Reichley, LMT Supervisors Ken DeAngelis and Dennis Hinkel, and LMT Asst. Treas. Roe Horn to clean out the fallen trees in the Little Lehigh along Spring Creek Road east of Rt. 100. There were about 50 people in all. We had several chain saws, two dump trucks and a back hoe/front loader from LMT, a little Bob Cat provide compliments of the company that sells them hoping for LMT to purchase one, 2 men from K Hovanina, compliments of Keith Kling, Senior Builder, Four Seasons, Macungie, Pa. Also, Four Season residents were there in force, about 8 men showed up for the clean-up. Next time we hope to double that number!
  2. We worked on two areas today both had downed trees in the creek. It was a hot humid day. We worked hand in hand with the above political leaders. I might add that they hauled and lifted big logs and trees just like we all did.
  3. There were some little people there too. They came with their moms and they helped load branches into the dump trucks.
  4. I think that all in all it was a very productive day which must be repeated.
  5. Next time we need some more and better equipment to lift the heavy tree branches from the creek.
  6. Perhaps we could encourage a tree removal company will to do some community service to help with our civic project. Do you know any?

The stream looks clear today. Perhaps I will try my luck fishing. Thanks to Keith at KHOV the stream is much improved around the entrance bridge to Four Seasons. However, we all know that there is much more clearing and cleaning to be done to this beautiful Little Lehigh which flow through our back yards. I hope the clean-up on Saturday July 16th is successful.

Things are coming along for the clean up on Saturday. Keith at Hovanian has offered time and half pay to several workers if they help in the clean up on Saturday July 16th.
Bill spoke to a resident in the large farm house across the entrance to Four Seasons who told him that a woman who lived there at the turn of the century said that the creek near her home was eight feet deep. How it has changed.

At the pool today, Monday 7-16-05, JN said that LMT was by the stream still cleaning up after Saturday's work crew. We sure cut up a bunch of fallen dead trees Saturday!
